A New Era for Hybrid Sound – Yamaha MGX Mixers

Yamaha’s newest digital mixing line is the MGX Series. This lineup features compact, highly flexible digital mixing consoles like the MGX12, MGX16, MGX12V, and MGX16V. Engineers built these models specifically for live sound, streaming, and content creation. Additionally, each model includes dual USB-C interfaces, premium mic preamps, and Bluetooth connectivity.

Yamaha’s legendary MG series has been the backbone of rehearsal spaces, podcast studios, and live venues for years. With the release of the Yamaha MGX Series, the analog lineup gets a massive digital evolution.

Engineers designed this series to bridge the gap between physical control and high-performance digital DSP. Consequently, the MGX lineup offers a tactile, analog-style layout backed by high-resolution multi-channel processing. Whether you run sound for a live show or stream to multiple platforms, the MGX Series delivers top-tier versatility.

Yamaha offers the MGX Series in two main channel configurations alongside dedicated video-centric models:

Yamaha MGX12 & MGX16: These standard digital mixing consoles offer 12-channel and 16-channel configurations. Furthermore, they feature onboard DSP, high-gain preamps, touchscreen controls, and customizable trigger pads.

The MGX Lineup at a Glance

Yamaha MGX12V & MGX16V: The “V” variants add built-in HDMI video input and pass-through switching directly on the board. As a result, content creators can manage audio and video routing simultaneously without buying extra capture cards.

Standout Features

Analogue Operation, Digital Brain: Yamaha kept the familiar physical knob-and-fader layout on top. However, they powered the system with a 32-bit / 96 kHz digital audio engine. Selecting any channel opens precise DSP controls, EQs, and dynamics on the touchscreen.

Dual USB-C & Wireless Connectivity: Dual USB-C ports make multi-stream routing simple. Therefore, you can connect your primary DAW on a PC while running audio directly to a smartphone alongside Bluetooth playback.

Integrated Sound Trigger Pads: Designed for podcasters and streamers, the built-in 8-pad matrix across 4 banks lets you instantly trigger sound effects or backing tracks on the fly.

Pristine Studio Preamps: Premium low-noise preamps provide up to 85 dB of clean gain. Because of this, even low-output dynamic microphones perform clearly without inline booster

Who Is It For?

If you want physical faders alongside high-resolution multi-track digital recording, global DSP effects, and video switching, the Yamaha MGX Series sets a powerful new standard.
